A flicker of trust, a flash of truth and fear is transcended …

Doomeerie Castle is shrouded in sinister legend. Tormented by his father’s cruelty and his lost lover, Jockim—the castle’s master—is relentlessly driven by a stifling superstition that punishes with a harsh code of conduct. Talitha, a maidservant with a secret mission, arrives in trepidation with her spirit companion Pover, a devoted, yet unassuming bird. Together they hope to secure the freedom of their beloved stag, Shiloh. Being unaware that the stag is his spirit companion, Jockim has incarcerated him to fight for the castle’s revenue.

The couple’s initial frostiness is quickly melted by the heat of mutual attraction; however, at the point of igniting, it is doused by betrayal and brutality. With their trust twisted into emotional knots, both Jockim and Talitha are propelled into the dark world of the ego. Simultaneously, the insidious emergence of the evil Oge erupts. This sinister force creeps across the land in search of tormented souls. Fear ferments as the only way to escape the Oge’s ominous clutches is to keep a watch in the night!

A Watch in the Night combines psychology and symbolism, fantasy and folklore to create a drama with shades of spiritualism.

Great Read!

I was given this book as a gift as I would not normally purchase "fantasy". So Grateful. What a great read. Just loved it. So many twists and turns.
I hope M.C. Melton does a sequel soon.

This novel held me captivated from start to finish. The imagery and atmosphere created by the author was truly beautiful. One of those rare novels that draws you in completely and - before you know it - you’re right there watching the drama, romance and battles (both internal and external) unfold within Doomerie Castle. I particularly enjoyed the use of folklore and symbolism which enabled the novel to be read at many different levels. The character growth provided me (as a reader) with many little lessons such as self-love and forgiveness. I simply can’t wait to read ‘A Watch in the Night’ again to discover even more hidden wonders within the pages!
